Saraswati Puja and Ayudha Puja at the JSR studio

Once a year we set our drawings aside, place our tools before the Goddess and give thanks for the work, the knowledge and the people that make JSR.

Every year at Ayudha Puja and Saraswati Puja, the JSR studio pauses for a day. Desks are cleared, the shrine is dressed with marigolds, banana leaves and lamps, and the tools of our work are placed before the Goddess.

Honouring the tools of our craft

Ayudha Puja is a day to thank the instruments we work with. For an architect, that means the scales and pencils, the computers and plotters, and the measuring tapes and levels that turn an idea into a building. Each was cleaned, marked with sandal paste and kumkum, and offered with gratitude.

Saraswati, and respect for knowledge

Saraswati is the goddess of learning, the arts and wisdom. Architecture asks for all three: years of study, a craft learnt by hand, and judgement that grows with every project. Placing our books and drawings before her reminds us that this profession asks for humility and a lifetime of learning.

Tradition in everyday practice

The same respect shapes how we design. Vaastu and Manayadi Sastram are part of our plans from the first sketch, and we honour the rituals that mark a building’s milestones. We draw every home knowing it will hold a family’s life, and their prayers, for generations.

Under one roof, under God’s grace

We work under one roof and, we believe, under God’s grace. Days like this remind the whole team that what we draw is more than lines on paper. It is a responsibility to every family and business that trusts us with their place.

From all of us at JSR Architects: may Goddess Saraswati bless you with knowledge, and may your tools and your work bring you prosperity.
